Steel noses are
case hardened for wear resistance without brittleness.
Delrin® noses prevent marring of aluminum, brass or other
soft materials.
Bodies are steel with a black oxide finish.
End pressures are given in
newtons. Full pressures are the force newtons needed to move the nose
the distance shown in "C"
columns.
The nylon
locking element holds the plunger body securely in place without
the need for lock nuts or other devices. We recommend a 90° countersink
1/32" larger than the major diameter of the mating thread to
prevent damaging the element.
Plungers may be ordered with or without the locking element.
Plungers without element are the same price, but are considered "specials" and
cannot be returned. We recommend using without the locking
element for applications in aluminum.
To prevent possible spring damage, use of a Northwestern
Wrench is recommended when installing from plunger end.
